Sometimes, the best learning happens by bringing in outside guests to speak about their own experiences in life and career, and the AHS Art Department is great about this!

Recently, thanks to a grant from The River Arts Festival, local artist Maysey Craddock spoke to the PAVE Academy (Performing Arts & Visual Experience) and students about her journey as an artist. Craddock is best known for her visceral gouache paintings, which are typically painted onto brown paper bags.

"Having my artwork in front of young people and students is exciting because they're in a completely different place in their lives, and the possibilities are endless," Craddock said. "To see them latching onto different paths and different ways of being a person in this world is really exciting."

This presentation, sponsored by the River Arts Festival, is part of Arlington High’s PAVE Fine Arts Academy, a Performing Arts and Visual Fine Arts Academy that allows students to specialize in concentrated arts fields, including Visual Arts, Film & Video, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music and Speech & Debate.
